Labor journal week 11

1. This week I spent most of my labor on working on my entire essay and making a complet and coherent essay. I wrote the extra body paragraphs and changed the things I needed to in my other body paragraphs and tried to make my essay glue together well and then I wrote the conclusion as well.

2. I think my take away from this week is that when I sit down and get into study mode and just write down my entire essay while I am in that mode then I get things done very quickly. I think in terms of studying and work for school that is the way I work best, I did multiple assignments for different classes all in around 2 hours. The only problem is that it is kind of hard to get into that mindset and environment.

3. I think my conclusion is pretty decent, I may change things to make my thesis a little bit clearer and slim I t down a bit but I think it is a decently solid conclusion. Before I did my conclusion I finished all of the body paragraphs so I think that having all of the information fresh in my mind made it much easier to finish the conclusion.

4. Personally I am okay with having the deadline be next week. I have basically finished my essay but I just need to review it again and make minor changes to my paragraphs and conclusion.

Email: Thank you for the response. I feel that the feedback is accurate. I have now realized that I completely forgot the works cited page as well as a 4th source and this was a mishap on my side. I plan to add the 4th source and a works cited page before I post it on my portfolio. I think that the book club this semester is very good. I enjoy my book. The only complaints I would have is that it seemed a little bit rushed for some reason but it might just be because we are doing it during the latter half of the semester rather than the first half. Questions I have for essay 3 is how long it would be, whether or not it should be longer or shorter than our previous essays and it seems like we have much less time to work on it. But I am ok with that. I am interested to know what the prompt for the essay is and how we will write it.

book club response 3

How does your author's personal life relate to larger social issues?  Is that an essential part of a powerful narrative?  Why or why not? My authors personal life relates to larger social issues because his life was surrounded by poverty and the issue of identity. The ideas that Trevor Noah puts forth are all very relevant to our social issues today. Many people have a problem finding their own identity and understanding who they are and it is exemplified in the book when Trevor describes his childhood and his life and how his race has affected who he is. I believe that the ideas that stem from his personal life and connect to larger social issues are all very essential to the narrative and move the story forward with good development and pacing.
