ENG 104 Blog - Nathan Ten

For this class I spent my labor on writing some paragraphs and integrating quotes that are relevant to my main points I am using. I also wrote a rough introduction that has a lot of information and can be changed a bit. I am planning on just writing everything in one go since I write essays better that way. My main take away is that I don’t write as well when I just write chunks of an essay. I think it is a lot easier to just start and keep on going until I finish because my ideas come easier and it just flows better as an essay. I think it was decent labor but like I said I am probably going to change a lot of things and just write the essay in one go. Over break I am going to be traveling so I won’t have much time for this class, but near the end of break I plan to just write the entire essay and use the remaining time I have in class to edit it and flesh it out better.

I would use my mind map to construct a paragraph by using the middle main topic to start of with a topic sentence and introduce what I am writing about. Then I would use one of the boxes to bring up my claim for the paragraph and back what I am saying with the quotes and other pieces of facts and evidence to support my claim. For my mind map I had solutions for the bottom two boxes so I might add those solutions near the end of my paragraph to give the reader some sense of conclusion or problem solving for my topic,

1. This week I felt a lot less stressed than last week, I had a lot less work to do and I feel that I have gotten more sleep this week than I have in the past two combined. In terms of research work I looked at my articles and got more information on my topic and got a lot of what I already know confirmed by facts. 2. I think that just having a general understanding of the topic beforehand has really helped me because when I look at a lot of my articles it is really easy to understand them all. 3. I think that this week the labor process has been fine and not too much work. I think what I would have done differently would probably to find more quotes to use because I don’t want my essay to just be me talking about the situation at hand. I think that having quotes will help back my claims and statements so I think when I am actually writing my essay I will look for quotes to integrate within my essay. 4. Last week was stressful even without class. I had a project due last Tuesday that I had to work on, then I had a KSA meeting on Wednesday, and then I had to work in my oral history project that was due on Sunday. I also had a quiz in my lab on Tuesday and a test for history on Thursday. So last week was stressful because of school. I feel that this week should be less stressful but I still have a lot to do and I have an event to plan and make sure it goes well it’s friday for KSA. I’m hoping that there won’t be too much school work this week and that everything will go well this week.

1. I thought about my original topic which was parking but then realized that it was too specific and kind of boring. So I chose to change my topic to a different one that is more broad and a lot more interesting to research, write, and read about. 2. My main take always were to understand what type of paper this is, it is to research a topic that relates to us and our society and to have it be an interesting paper. 3. I think I have been doing ok in my labor/work for this week and I think I got my topic down and it should be much easier to find and do more research on my topic now.
