Labor journal March 22

For this class I spent my labor on writing some paragraphs and integrating quotes that are relevant to my main points I am using. I also wrote a rough introduction that has a lot of information and can be changed a bit. I am planning on just writing everything in one go since I write essays better that way.

My main take away is that I don’t write as well when I just write chunks of an essay. I think it is a lot easier to just start and keep on going until I finish because my ideas come easier and it just flows better as an essay.

I think it was decent labor but like I said I am probably going to change a lot of things and just write the essay in one go.

Over break I am going to be traveling so I won’t have much time for this class, but near the end of break I plan to just write the entire essay and use the remaining time I have in class to edit it and flesh it out better.

Email: Thank you for the response. I feel that the feedback is accurate. I have now realized that I completely forgot the works cited page as well as a 4th source and this was a mishap on my side. I plan to add the 4th source and a works cited page before I post it on my portfolio. I think that the book club this semester is very good. I enjoy my book. The only complaints I would have is that it seemed a little bit rushed for some reason but it might just be because we are doing it during the latter half of the semester rather than the first half. Questions I have for essay 3 is how long it would be, whether or not it should be longer or shorter than our previous essays and it seems like we have much less time to work on it. But I am ok with that. I am interested to know what the prompt for the essay is and how we will write it.

book club response 3

How does your author's personal life relate to larger social issues?  Is that an essential part of a powerful narrative?  Why or why not? My authors personal life relates to larger social issues because his life was surrounded by poverty and the issue of identity. The ideas that Trevor Noah puts forth are all very relevant to our social issues today. Many people have a problem finding their own identity and understanding who they are and it is exemplified in the book when Trevor describes his childhood and his life and how his race has affected who he is. I believe that the ideas that stem from his personal life and connect to larger social issues are all very essential to the narrative and move the story forward with good development and pacing.
