Labor journal 5

1. This week I felt a lot less stressed than last week, I had a lot less work to do and I feel that I have gotten more sleep this week than I have in the past two combined. In terms of research work I looked at my articles and got more information on my topic and got a lot of what I already know confirmed by facts.
2. I think that just having a general understanding of the topic beforehand has really helped me because when I look at a lot of my articles it is really easy to understand them all.

3. I think that this week the labor process has been fine and not too much work. I think what I would have done differently would probably to find more quotes to use because I don’t want my essay to just be me talking about the situation at hand. I think that having quotes will help back my claims and statements so I think when I am actually writing my essay I will look for quotes to integrate within my essay.

4. I am happy with my book club since the book that I am reading is an interesting read and I am interested in learning about Trevor Noah’s life. For the mid semester conference I think a Tuesday or Thursday before 1:45 pm would be ideal since i have class every other day and at 2 on those days. I would say either the 19th or the 22nd would be good dates.

Email: Thank you for the response. I feel that the feedback is accurate. I have now realized that I completely forgot the works cited page as well as a 4th source and this was a mishap on my side. I plan to add the 4th source and a works cited page before I post it on my portfolio. I think that the book club this semester is very good. I enjoy my book. The only complaints I would have is that it seemed a little bit rushed for some reason but it might just be because we are doing it during the latter half of the semester rather than the first half. Questions I have for essay 3 is how long it would be, whether or not it should be longer or shorter than our previous essays and it seems like we have much less time to work on it. But I am ok with that. I am interested to know what the prompt for the essay is and how we will write it.

book club response 3

How does your author's personal life relate to larger social issues?  Is that an essential part of a powerful narrative?  Why or why not? My authors personal life relates to larger social issues because his life was surrounded by poverty and the issue of identity. The ideas that Trevor Noah puts forth are all very relevant to our social issues today. Many people have a problem finding their own identity and understanding who they are and it is exemplified in the book when Trevor describes his childhood and his life and how his race has affected who he is. I believe that the ideas that stem from his personal life and connect to larger social issues are all very essential to the narrative and move the story forward with good development and pacing.
