I feel that this reading has a very similar meaning as Amy Tans writing about her language. This article is just a more broad and "professional" way of getting the same message across. This article seems to be a more professional/job related way of talking about different languages and "slang" that people use. I think that the abbreviations and words that doctors use and physicist use can be considered as slang, more so professional slang. It goes back to the same meaning that everyone has different languages and we won't understand it until we try to learn and understand it ourselves.
